Fred and Margaret (Peggy) Robillard were reunited on Sunday, February 19, 2023, with the passing of Fred. Fred J. Robillard, 98, of Walton, NY passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at home. Fred was born on February 16, 1925 in Dixon, IL the son of the late Romeo and Eviline (Tuttle) Robillard. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in North Africa and in Sicily and later in Italy where he was captured and spent a year as a POW. Highly decorated, he received the Middle Eastern Campaign with 2 Bronze Stars, and the Purple Heart. Fred married the former Margaret Farster on June 15, 1946. Peggy died on May 2, 2022 in Cooperstown, NY after an extended illness. Fred last worked for the IBEW196 in Elgin, IL as a Journeyman Lineman. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with family. His greatest love in life was his wife Peggy. He was a member of the Friendship Lodge #7 F and AM Masons 32nd degree and the Dixon VFW where he was a life member. Fred was predeceased by his siblings Robert, Agnes, Edward and Dorothy all formerly of Dixon, IL. Peggy was born on March 14, 1928 in Woosung, IL the daughter of the late Ed and Bertha (Porter) Farster. Peggy was a Waitress and hostess at many Dixon IL eateries, retiring from Miller’s Pantry. She enjoyed taking care of her family, but her greatest love came from being the wife of Fred. She was also a member of the Dixon Eastern Star. Her beloved brothers and sisters, Mick, Lewis, Sadie(Houck), Irene(Como), Marion(Hoyle), and Vivian(Jacquet) all formerly of Woosung IL, passed away before her. Fred and Peggy are survived by their loving family, sons, James “Gordy” (Dianne) Robillard of Walton, NY; Phillip Robillard of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Rinda (Christopher Mattice) Robillard-Mattice of Roxbury, NY; Teresa Robillard of Walton, NY; Tina (Ezz) ElGayar of Clearwater, FL; great grandchildren, Zoe Mattice, Téa Mattice, and Rebekah Cordero. Fred & Peggy were predeceased by their daughter-in-law Linda in 2019. A graveside service for Peggy and Fred will be held in the summer of 2023 with full military honors in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Dixon, IL at a date and time to be announced. Memorial Contributions in Fred’s or Peggy’s memory may be made to VFW Post 540, 1560 II Route 38, Dixon, IL 61021 or Friendship Lodge, 1409 N Galena Avenue, Dixon, IL 61021.
