Obituary of Virginia E. Sherman

Virginia E. ”Ginny” Sherman, 81, of Walton passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, following a long illness. Ginny was born on December 11, 1940 in Seneca Falls, NY the daughter of the late Earl and Eunice (Woodford) McCann. She moved to Walton as a young child and graduated from Walton High School, class of 1959. On September 17, 1961 she married William H. Sherman in Walton. He died on May 27, 1990. Ginny worked as a Geriatric Care Technician at Delaware County Infirmary in Delhi for many years before retiring. She was a faithful member of the New Hope Community Church. Ginny enjoyed taking pictures, gardening, word searches, getting her nails done, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and always would have a clever wise crack for you. Her laugh would light up the room. Ginny is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Vinnie (Dan) Hodges, Connie (Kevin) Armstrong all of Walton; Sue (Robert) Mann of Middleburgh, grandchildren, Jill (Nic), Amy, Brad (Katie), Leeanna (Pete), Aaron, Nikki, great grandchildren, Henry, Thomas, Owen, Carter, her church family, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and her Aunt Ella and Uncle Pete Higley who raised her, plus her beloved dachshund, Snickers. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 1 PM with Pastor Larry Light, officiating.
