Obituary of Peter T. Curtin

Peter T. Curtin, 88, of Walton passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY following a long illness. Peter was born on August 28, 1934 in Jamacia, LI, the son of the late Peter W. and Lillian (Hensler) Curtin. He played high school football for Walton. Following graduation at Walton High school, he was a pin setter at the local bowling alleys. He was an avid bowler throughout his life. He worked for Amphenol for 47 years first as a punch press operator and later was a group leader and internal grinder in the tool room. On December 9, 1955 he married the former Beverly Finch in Walton. Peter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. Peter was a faithful member of the Northfield Community Church. He loved his family and spent as much time with them as he could. He enjoyed bowling, watching NASCAR, hunting, and fishing in the ocean. He loved camping, bonfires, western movies, and football games, traveling many miles rooting for the Walton Warriors, and playing solitaire. He also loved his weekends with Bev, snowmobiling in the countryside. Every year he would look forward to a trip to Galveston, Texas with his brother, Jim. No matter where he was or what he was doing you would find him with his trusty pipe or a toothpick in his mouth. Peter is survived by his loving family, his wife, Beverly, children, Christopher (Joyce) Curtin of Franklin; Carla (Jamie) Green of Walton; Timothy Curtin of Wells Bridge; Todd (Belinda) Curtin of Walton; grandchildren, Peter (Tammy), Ben, Dylan, Timmy (Jordan), Emilee (Kris) Lander, Katelynn, Shane, Nathan (Ashley), great grandchildren, Sierra, Nathen, Aubrie, Maddelynn, Arabella, Donovan and Brinlee; brother, James Curtin of Walton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Curtin. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11 AM with full military honors at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Pastor Randy Palada, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
