Obituary of Beatrice L. Miller

Beatrice L. Miller, 91, peacefully fell asleep in death on May 3, 2022 at her home in Walton, New York. Born on September 10, 1930 about a half-mile from Branchville, New Jersey to Reeves and Alice (Specht) Tooker. Beatrice was a homemaker and wife to Adin J. Miller who passed on October 17, 2020; they were married in August 1949. Beatrice enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and taking care of the animals- chickens, ducks, highland cattle, and her Jack Russell, Baxter. She also used her sewing machine to make her own clothing. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals from scratch, using both her electric range and wood-fired cook stove. Beatrice and her mother-in-law, Mabel (Little) Miller, were both members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chinkekewunska Chapter, Wantage, New Jersey. They both enjoyed volunteering their time with the DAR, whose goal is to promote historical education and patriotism. Beatrice is survived by three sons, Joseph A. and his wife Ellen, Douglas E., and Clayton J., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Beatrice enjoyed her occasional phone conversations with her brother Coleman and his wife Gail. She often talked of her past adventures with her brothers Reeves ‘Buck’ and George, who both predeceased her. In her youth, Beatrice first attended Long Bridge School and then Newton High School, graduating in 1948. Her first job was working as a cashier for the Branchville National Bank in Branchville, New Jersey. In 1963 she received her diploma in cosmetology from Joseph Paterson College of Beauty Culture in Dover, New Jersey. Beatrice was employed with United Methodist Homes of New Jersey for many years before her retirement. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
