Obituary of Gladys L. Palmatier

Walton - Gladys L. Palmatier, 73, passed away at home on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Gladys was born on May 1, 1948 at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn N.Y.; the daughter of the late Leonard W. and Lucille A. (Weisinger) Grossmann. On May 22, 1971 she married David C. Palmatier at the Trout Creek Community Church. David predeceased her in 2013. After school she worked at EJ’s in Endicott and Bard-Parker in Hancock. As her family grew larger, she sought employment closer to home that included Eureka Tent on Prospect Avenue for several years. Gladys retired as a secretary from the Walton Central School District on Stockton Avenue in 2012. She enjoyed sewing and creating curtains for herself and family members. A devoted mother and grandmother, she had a knack for photo-shopping her children and grandchildren for hours on her computer in her home ‘office’. Survivors include her children, Brian Palmatier (Roberta), Haley Gransbury (Cory) and Tina Palmatier (Martin); grandchildren, Tyler Palmatier, Jordynn Palmatier, Payton Palmatier, Jacqlyn Gransbury, Taylor Gransbury and Dylan VanPelt; brothers, Leonard Grossmann (Nancy), Charles Grossmann (Kathy), Richard Grossmann and sisters; Virginia Cole (Ray), Estelle Barnhart and Ann Carroll; brother-in-law’s, Ed Palmatier and Jim Gordon (Linda); sister-in-law, Charlotte Jones, Shirley Sherman (Chet), Carol Vandermark, Barb Rogers and Joyce Stanton and several nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her son, Rob Palmatier; mother and father-in-law, Clifford Palmatier (Susan); brother, Raymond Grossmann; brother-in-law’s, Tom Barnhart, Larry Palmatier, Darrell Carroll and sister-in-law, Janice Grossmann. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 12Noon at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Pastor Larry Light, officiating.
