Obituary of Richard C. Simpson, Jr.

Richard C. Simpson, Jr., 51, of Walton, passed away unexpediately on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at his home following a brief illness. Born December 29, 1969 in Cornwall, NY, he was the biological son of the late Richard Sr. and Geraldine LaSalle. Richard was raised by the late Raymond Burghart. Richard worked as a Farm Manager for over 35 years at Leonard Kreusch, Inc. (Circle K Ranch) in Walton. He was well known for his Halloween haunted barn he used to create every year at the Ranch. When Richard was not hard at work on the farm, he enjoyed various crafting projects such as woodworking and glass etching, deer hunting and fishing. Richard would save up all his lose change all year in preparation for the Delaware County Fair. He would take all his savings and enjoy the week’s festivities to include the Demolition Derby. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and never missed a game on Sunday’s. Richard was known to be a bit of a Facebook junkie, he loved social media and was Administrator for several local Walton pages. Survivors include his children Cortney Smith, Richard Simpson III and Siera Simpson; brother Raymond Burghart; sisters Tina Kokoszka (Jack), Janice Burghart and Peggy Grimsley (Ken) and grandchildren Victor Hill and Landon Grier. Richard is also survived by several nieces, great nieces, a great nephew and many other close friends. Besides his parents, Richard is predeceased by his daughter Kaitlyn Simpson. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street in Walton. A service to celebrate Richard’s life will follow at the funeral home at 1 P.M. with Pastor Bob Wilkie officiating. Burial will follow at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton.
