Obituary of Thomas "Tom" Vreeland

Thomas Vreeland “Tom”, 84, of Walton died at home on Thursday, September 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born May 28, 1937 in Ringwood, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Thomas and Gertrude Mae Miller Vreeland. Tom’s passions were his family and friends, antiques, baseball and hunting. Tom’s occupations consisted of being a plumber, working at country club ice cream, landscaping and the Supervisor of Building and Grounds for the West Milford Board of Education. At retirement, his true passion was the Antique business T.J.’s Wagon Wheel Antiques of over 35 years in Walton, New York. Tom is survived by his beloved wife Jacqueline Vreeland of 63 years; children Brenda Vreeland of Franklin, New Jersey, Audrey Fairweather (Allan) of Walton, New York and Thomas R. Vreeland and his partner Frederick A Dietrick of Lambertville, New Jersey; two grandsons Shawn Carr of Walton, New York and Kyle Carr of Florida, New York; three step grand-children, Allan Jr, Jessica and Troy Fairweather; brother Kenneth Vreeland (Ann); sister in-law Charlotte Vreeland; brother-in-law Roger Anderson (Dolores); sister-in-law JoAnn Doran. Tom is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one niece; brother’s from which Tom was the oldest of eight siblings; Robert Vreeland, Clarence Vreeland, Edward Vreeland, Roger Vreeland and wife Maryann, and sisters Dorothy Vreeland and Helen Cox and her husband Richard; and mother and father-in law Dorothy and Floyd Anderson. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 10-12 P.M. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, NY. A service to celebrate Tom’s life will follow at the funeral home at 12 P.M. with the Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays officiating. Burial will take place at Walton Cemetery immediately following services at the funeral home, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton, NY.
