Obituary of Cory Robert Vitek

We are saddened to share that Cory Robert Vitek, 43, passed away on August 5, 2021, and is now with The Lord. Cory is the son of Stephen “Rob” Vitek and Sharon Smith. Cory was born in Sidney, NY on September 21st, 1977. He graduated from Walton High School in 1995 after having the honor of being voted Prom King. Following his graduation, he worked cutting stone and later opened his own bluestone business. Cory later joined Laborers’ Local 17 and worked the pipeline as a proud Union Member. Shortly after his son, Christian’s, graduation Cory moved to D ‘Iberville, Mississippi to continue his journey in life. Cory enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting casinos, good music, traveling, barbequing, relaxing on the beach and spending time with his family and friends. Cory was the light shining the brightest in any room. He lived his life to the fullest each day. Cory is survived by his son, Christian Alexander Vitek, his parents, Sharon Smith and Stephen “Rob” Vitek (Mei), his two sisters, Sarah Fletcher (Kirby) and Kelly DeLeon (Ramon), two brothers Carl Smith (Bree) and Robert Vitek (Cassandra), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Cory was predeceased by his grandparents Helen and Dale Stafford, Carol and Mike Sramek, and his uncle Mike Stafford. Calling hours to celebrate Cory’s life will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1-3 P.M. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, NY 13856. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Cory’s memory may be made to the Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 71, Trout Creek, NY 13847.
