Martin “Mike” K. Gladstone, 79, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 9, 2021, at UHS Binghamton General Hospital following a brief illness. Born November 11, 1941, in Walton, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Margaret Jackson Gladstone. Mike proudly served his country in the Army from 1962-64. He worked at Del-Met for 21 years then went to work for Norbord in Deposit until his retirement in 2004. Mike was an avid hunter and fishermen, enjoyed a good game of cards with friends and family, playing horseshoes and admiring classic cars. He had a special talent; Mike was able to type 120 WPM and would tell anyone who would listen as he was very proud of this skill. He was known as the town “Prankster” and enjoyed making people smile and laugh. Most of all, Mike will be remembered as a devoted family man who will be sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. Survivors include his beloved wife 31 years Janice Gladstone of Walton; children Theodore Gladstone (Pam), Victoria L. Gladstone and Renee L. Hotchkiss (David); grandchildren Phillip Gladstone, Dylan Sobey, Cassandra Edwards (Ethan), Brandon Gladstone, Sylvia Smith and Andrew Smith (Amanda); great grandchildren Kyra Gladstone, Romona Garrison, Moriah Edwards, Conner Smith, Tyler Smith and Luke Smith; four nephews, Mark Dunlap, Mike Dunlap, Matt Dunlap and Ward Dunlap; stepchildren Sharon Radtke (William “Bill”), Dawn Decker and Susan Smith (Randy); step grandchildren Jessica Frazer, Jennifer Radtke, Jacqueline Radtke, Amanda Armstead, Megan Decker, Erin Colon, Justine Decker, Matthew Smith and Taylor Smith and great step grandchildren Ila Colon, Michael Colon, Remi Carabollo, Jaida Lewis, Zoey Armstead, Chase Hover, Hunter Smith, Westin Smith, Christian Alfaro and Natalia Alfaro. Martin is predeceased by his brother Merton “Butch” John, grandson Adam D. Hotchkiss and step son-in-law Michael Decker. A graveside service to celebrate Mike’s life will take place on Monday, August 16, 2021, at 11 A.M. at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Pastor Paul Huh officiating.
