Obituary of Frances Marie DeMann

Frances Marie DeMann, 72, of Walton passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 following a brief illness, “Frannie” as she was more commonly referred, will be missed by her loving family and many friends. Frances Marie Gilbert was born on October 5, 1948 in Hobart, New York. She was the daughter of the late Clayton Henry Gilbert and Lena Oblinski-Wayman. Frannie married Thomas L. DeMann, Jr. on October 16, 1998 in the village on Walton. Tom and Frannie had a special bond and truly enjoyed one another’s company. She was a kind-hearted soul who always had a smile on her face despite life’s challenges. She enjoyed listening to country music, taking care of animals and playing on her computer. Without a doubt, her favorite form of entertainment was playing Bingo. Frannie was a regular of Walton Bingo for decades. She became very close to her fellow Bingo players, as well as members of the fire department. Frannie enjoyed getting together with family for a summer barbeque or any other special event. Tom and Frannie spent many days together watching a good movie and enjoying eachother’s company. They could be seen together walking around town, enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Frannie loved summertime and took advantage of the warm weather by enjoying an ice cream or an ice cold beer. Survivors include her beloved husband, Tom of Walton; her sisters, Mary Pat Gilbert Lemieszek and Delphine Gilbert, both of Amsterdam, New York; and several nieces, nephews, many first cousins and a large group of friends. Especially close friends include Tammy Vandermark and Kimberly Cook-Blincoe. Frannie would want everyone to be kind to one another and remind them to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Tom will greatly miss his loving wife and best friend. Family and friends are hoping that Frannie becomes a regular at the Bingo Hall in Heaven. A celebration of Frannie’s life will be held at a date and time to be announced this Summer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
