Betty J. Tweedie, 87, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 10, 1933 in Walton, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Marian Hitt Griffin. Betty married Donald C. Tweedie on September 13, 1953, and he predeceased her in November of 1982." Before the birth of her children, she worked as a proofreader at The Reporter Company. Betty was a very talented seamstress and did many alterations over the years for Webb’s, StyleShop and Family Shopping Center in Walton. She was a long time and devoted member of the Walton United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughters Karen Prestidge (Elmer) of Walton and Diane Seidner of Walton; grandchildren Donald Prestidge (Emily) and Shawn Prestidge (Ryan); great grandchildren Evelyn Prestidge and David Prestidge and cousin Richard Griffin. Betty is predeceased by her beloved husband Donald C. Tweedie. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 5-7 P.M. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A graveside service will be celebrated on Friday, October 2 at 12 P.M. at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Pastor Kent Terchunian officiating. Memorial donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Walton United Methodist Church General Fund, 101 North Street, Walton, NY 13856.
