Mark Andrew Benedetto, 63, of Walton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home surrounded by his beloved family and friends following a long illness.
Born May 1, 1957 in Bethpage, NY, he was a son of the late Louis Frederick and Irene Ann DeLetto Benedetto.
Mark dedicated over 42 years of his life to serve and protect his community as a Law Enforcement Officer. He started his career in law enforcement with the Walton Police Department, worked with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and then finally with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police (DEP). Mark retired in 2014 as DEP Chief stationed at the Walton Barracks. When Mark wasn’t serving his community he enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, carpentry and old cars, especially his 1972 Chevelle. Mark was a man of honor and integrity and will be sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years Rose Benedetto whom he married on September 9, 1979 in Long Island; Brother Jeffrey Benedetto and Sisters Livia Benedetto and Karen Benedetto. Mark is also survived by several nieces and many close friends. Besides his parents, Mark is predeceased by his daughter Lisa Benedetto and his brother Steven Benedetto.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend with take place on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 2-4 P.M. & 6-8 P.M. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 26 at 11 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton with the Rev. Edward J. Golding officiating. Please assemble at church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Social distancing guidelines must be met, and face masks are required
