Obituary of Janet Ruth Wildey

Janet Ruth Wildey, 80, of Trout Creek passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on August 11, 2020. Born on October 9, 1939 in Walton, she was the daughter of the late Derrick and Dorothy Sparling. On November 23, 1957 she married her husband, Robert “Bob” Wildey in Sidney Center. They were married for 39 years until he passed in 1996. Janet was a dedicated worker at Amphenol for over 30 years until she retired in 2003. Her personality and sense of humor are what her family and friends will remember most about her. When you talked with Janet, you knew exactly where you stood. She was very social and enjoyed going out to eat. She loved to bake and cook. She was famous for her cheesecake and for always trying new dishes. At the end of the day, there was nothing more important to her than family. Janet never missed a sporting event for her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Skeet Wildey (Christine) of Walton, Rich Wildey (Helena) of Walton, Connie Gardepe (Skip) of Bainbridge and Robin Wagner (Dana) of Trout Creek; her sister, Joan Frank of Walton; 13 grandchildren, Noel Wildey, Krista Wildey, Mac Moneta, Travis Wildey, Hunter Wildey, Chad Wildey, Angie Bohle, Jade Williams, Danica Capobianco, Damien Gardepe, Ben Vacula, Hannah Wagner and Sophie Wagner; 22 great-grandchildren; a good friend and neighbor, Alberta Hornbeck “Inspector 24”; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of her caregivers for the love, care and support given to Janet during her time of need; especially, Jenn Barnhart. All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
