I worked with Candy in the late 70s and early 80s at Delhi Tech. She was always smiling and had such energy! Years later, we met on the street in Walton and stood for some time solving the problems of women losing years toward their pensions because of taking time off for child-rearing.
I also knew Rennie during my student teaching at WCS way back when.
I just drove by Russell's Wayside Rest last week and thought fondly of Candy.
Sincere condolences to the family.

Renny and Family. The Oswegatchie Family is at a total loss of words upon receiving the news of your beloved Candice. I am so grateful that we had those few moments last fall when you made a surprise visit to Oswegatchie to bike and hike about. Candice was always such a joy to be around, and in my early days of running Oswegatchie, I appreciated the efforts she made to make our aquatics safe. How blessed have we all been to have known Candy...….We are deeply sorry for this loss, and will miss her presence on this earth.
With deepest sympathy,
Todd & Shari Lighthall and the entire Oswegatchie team.

It's been a few years since I worked with Candice at SUNY Delhi, but every May I would see her smiling face at the AMBA event the first Saturday in May. We would chat as if we'd seen each other just yesterday and the connection always warmed my heart. She made me feel important in her life, and such a gift is priceless. I shall miss our annual "meeting" together. Rest in peace Candice.

I love Candy Russell. She was my friend and a friend to all. She is an example of how our actions in life can make ripples into the world for the better. Think of all those children who know how to swim, all those young adults who now have employable skills and are lifeguards and swim instructors locally and throughout the United states. I believe that she is still here with us in the people that she has touched with her kindness and love of life. I know that in the beauty of the day as you bike, cross country ski, hike, walk, kayak and swim Candy will smile down. She will send her love to you in the sparkle of the sun on the water, in the wind that blows around you, and in the water that surrounds you as you swim. I pray for peace for you Renny and your children and grandchildren. Sending love.

My sincere condolences to the family. Candy was always energetic and kind. We became quick friends at the UP Church Sunday school in only the last few years. She remembered my mother from the MS support group that met at the church in the late 80s and I always enjoyed chatting with her at the pool and school events. She truly adored her grandchildren and shared an especially close relationship with them that will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to those sweet kids and to her whole family.

Our family has many happy memories of Candi as she coordinated the swimming lessons and lifeguards at the Walton Pool. All three of our kids learned to swim there, then became lifeguards. Candi always possessed a sweet attitude as she led the swimming program. She will be greatly missed in the community.

Renny, Lisa,Jeff and family... Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to you all. The infectious joy that Candy spread will be missed by soooo many. She was the source of such frequent belly-laugh (such as the Christmas Pageant where she was Carol Burnett meets Art Linkletter! ) Good , good fun was her MO. She is at peace now, and I pray you all find peace in the warm memories and the many ripples of good living that she created. Betsy&Bob

Mere words cannot express how I feel with your loss. It seems like I have known Candy my whole life. My memories go back to South Street when I visited Candy and Renny in their apartment before the house was built. I have always enjoyed out visits each year and truly enjoyed our relationship, not just as a client, but as a friend and family. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
