Byron Joseph Furman, 51, of Sidney Center, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 following a brief illness.
Born March 10, 1968, in Walton, he was the son of James Elmer Furman and Doris Zimmerman Furman. Byron was a proud Desert Storm veteran serving his country in the Air Force for over nine years. During his time as a Satellite and Wideband Communication Equipment Journeyman in the Air Force he received numerous awards and decorations for his hard work and dedication to his country. He was a dedicated family man, being the primary caregiver for his mother and father for many years. Byron enjoyed writing, reading, classic movies, music - especially Rob Zombie, he was a huge Star Wars fan and an avid animal lover. He also had a kind loving soul and graciously gave to children in need through The Children’s Fund. He will be truly missed by all his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents James Elmer Furman and Doris Zimmerman Furman; brothers Jim Furman (Becca) and Bill Furman (Michele); sisters Lisa Furman (John) and Vivian Walker (nieces - Tia and Annya); uncle Arthur “Pat” Furman, Jr. and cousin Mike Furman (Debbie).
A service to celebrate Byron’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 1 P.M. at the Sidney Center Baptist Church, 10440 Main Street, Sidney Center, NY 13839 with Pastor Dennis Murray officiating.
Memorial donations in Byron’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
