Obituary of Dorothy Ann Gatto

Dorothy Ann Gatto or famously known as Dot Dot Dash and Aunt Dotty has gone peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 7th 2019 at the age of 91.

Born, April 20th 1928 in Brooklyn New York, she was one of four Sisters. Dotty worked for over 45+ years at New York Bell Telephone Company.  Dotty was a very devout Catholic; her great true love being, Jesus Christ. In fact the day before her departure she happily asked to be sent to her handsome Jesus. She had a happy life but knew she was ready!  Dotty had dedicated her entire life to serving God and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and the importance for all of us to gain approval to enter the kingdom of heaven. She was strong in her faith and wanted that for others. She never shied from sharing her beliefs. Dotty had all the love and means to be a nun early on in life but has said she felt it was best to serve him by helping to raise and care for her nieces and nephews. Dotty didn't have any children of her own but she proudly helped her sister, Irene bring up 10 children. Some have sadly left before their time but all have loved and respected their Aunt with an unmeasurable resource.

Dotty was blessed with many great and great-great nephews and nieces over the years.  All were welcome in her home at all times and she truly looked forward to gathering such as, Sunday dinners, holidays, birthdays and weddings; any chance to have the family together! She loved reading faith based material (The Wander The Evangelist) and decorating her house. She could always be found watching either Lawrence Welk or EWTN. Dotty went to mass on a daily basis and loved praying and saying the rosary.

Dotty was a strong force in the family and will be greatly missed but will be remembered for many things but especially; her strict and matching attire policy; her very charming and elegant house of blue; her lead foot which coined the nickname, Dot Dot Dash; And last but not least, her signature "ooh honey!" phrase if something troubled her.

Aunt Dotty, your family thanks you for everything you've done and are grateful you're suffering on Earth is no more as you rejoice in heaven above! We love you very much, our tiny bluebird.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family: Her nieces and nephews, Jimmy and Linda Passarella, Ronkonkoma; Charlie and Karen Passarella, Smithtown; Maria and Gregg Kujawski, Franklin; Kathy and Steve Smith, Franklin; Donna and Steve Cox, Franklin; Peggy and Walter Peterson, Franklin; Tom and Sandy Harrington, Walton; her Great-nephews and Great-nieces: Michael, Aimee, Melissa, Alex, Breanna, Christina, Chris, Jessica, Jimmy, Charlie, Danielle, Alyssa, Kevin, Anthony, Stephanie, Amy, Wesley, Gina, Michael, Jaclyn, Michael, Seven Jr, Joey, Steven, Colleen, Lacey, Matthew, Michael, Irene, Terry, Timmy; Her Great-Great Nephews and Great-Great Nieces: Andrew, Nolan, Jackson, Holden, David, Judd, Zander, Myla, Quinn, Bela, McCartney, Noah, Henry;  Her Best In-law/Game Buddy; Doris Peterson; Her adopted Nieces; Laura Dunne, Lauren and Alley, nephews Tommy and Andrew Lehey and her animals, Max and Eddie.
