Obituary of Eugene Bailey
Eugene L. Bailey, 76, of Carbondale, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Geisenger Community Medical Center, Scranton, following a long illness.
Gene was born on May 24, 1942 in Bradford, PA the son of the late Albert L. and Ruth (Shugars) Bailey. On March 25, 1967 he married the former Charlene Dean in Walton.
Gene was a Machine Operator for S.J. Baileys in Walton for many years. He was a former member and captain of Company 5 of the Walton Fire Department for 25 years. He later became an honorary member. He was Captain of Company 5 and helped start the Explorer Post at the firehall.
Gene was an “Outdoor Man” who loved fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. He was also a great handyman, who did most of the repairs around the house. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and taking care of them.
Eugene is survived by his loving family, his wife, Charlene, children, Darlene Bailey, Eugene Bailey, Jr., Jeffrey (Tina) Bailey, grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jr., Lacey, brother, Raymond and Leola Bailey, brother and sister in laws, Everett and Sherrie Dean, Donald Buchanan, Norma Collier, Sharon Young, Vicki Wells, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, David, Robert, Rodney, sisters, Helen Tompkins, Katherine Mason, and Agnes Buchanan.
Family and friends are invited to call on September 11, 2018 from 11 to 12 PM at the Walton Fire Department, 61 West Street, Walton, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon with a luncheon to follow. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
