Lynworth W. “Skip” Jaques, 88, a longtime resident of Walton passed away Friday afternoon, February 1, 2019 at Wilson Memorial Hospital of Johnson City, following a short illness.
Skip was born on May 20, 1930 in Bloomville, the son of the late Lynworth E. and Cora (Kelly) Jaques. He married the former Gladys Bowker on May 4, 1952 in Andes. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the the Korean War. He was first employed by Breakstone’s and later as a deputy by the Delaware County Sheriff's Dept. Skip was a former member and Captain of Walton Fire Dept, Engine Company 5, the Tobey C. Truman VFW Post # 32, Christ Episcopal Church and a former Troop 45 Boy Scout leader.
Skip enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, NASCAR and traveling throughout the United States and Canada. He also enjoyed CB radio operation and repair.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 66 years, Gladys, sons, Michael of Norwich, Jeffrey and Michele of Sidney; John and Aida of Magnolia, TX; and Ryan and Tricia of Franklin, grandchildren, Trevor, Morgan and Jennifer, great granddaughter, Emmalee Michele; brother, Daniel Jacques of Delhi; sisters, Kimberly and Joseph Brown of Margaretville; and Joann and Ronald Boerner, Andes, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Skip was predeceased by a daughter, Terri Lynn, and sisters, Leulla and Janis.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
