Astrid Katherine “Kay” Wildenstein of Bainbridge, New York, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, September 2, 2018 with her husband of 64 years by her side. Kay was the second of four children born to Astrid and Arnold Christensen in Northport, New York on November 6, 1937. Kay is survived by her husband Francis Wildenstein, children: Kenneth (wife Sandra) Wildenstein, Michael Wildenstein, Karen (husband Glenn) Tripp, Shirley (husband Scott) Duell, Douglas (wife Terri) Wildenstein, 10 grandchildren, and delightful great-grandchildren and a sister, Alice Haskin. Kay was preceded in death by her eldest son Charles Wildenstein, brothers Arthur and Ty Christensen, and parents Astrid and Arnold Christensen.
Kay was a master of many things, but her favorite was being wife/mother/caregiver. Throughout the years, along with taking care of her own children, Kay and Francis fostered many other children. The Wildenstein family home had an open door policy – friends, family and anyone who needed help or a good visit was welcomed. This loving, accepting mindset was one that she instilled in everyone in the family.
Kay loved to bake and you were always guaranteed a fresh dessert, homemade bread, or her famous Snickerdoodle cookies when you walked in the door. If she wasn’t baking, you could find her tending her gardens full of flowers or sitting and reading a book. Kay will be remembered as a loving, nurturing wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
There will be a Celebration of her Life at the home of Ken and Sandy Wildenstein, Far View Farm, 175 Rod and Gun Club Road, Unadilla, New York, 13849, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Please bring a bouquet of flowers from you own garden if you wish. Memorial Contributions in Kay’s memory may be made to a Health Organization of your choice or the Guilford United Methodist Church, 1277 County Route 35 Main Street Guilford, New York, 13780.
